The cars were presented by Mr. Nicolaas Vervelde, Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Walter Drenth, Marketing Director and Mr. Kufre Ekanem, Corporate Affairs Adviser, all of Nigerian Breweries Plc.
While presenting the vehicles to the winners, Mr. Vervelde stressed the need for the contestants to conduct themselves as role models to Nigerians youths and be mindful of the fact that they are ambassadors.
He said: “On behalf of Nigerian Breweries Plc., I congratulate you on the feats you achieved on Gulder Ultimate Search 11. Always remember that people will see you as representing the Gulder brand. You must be of good behaviour at all times and be conscious of the fact that many Nigerian youths are looking up to you.”
Mr. Walter Drenth added that the contestants should drive with care. He stated: “These cars are comprehensively insured for a period of one year. We however expect that you would take proper care of the cars. I would also like to add that Nigerian Breweries Plc. is a socially responsible company; and we advocate that you must not drink alcohol and drive. Once more, congratulations and please do drive with care.”
Chinedu, the Ultimate Man, who was visibly excited to receive the keys to the SUV thanked Nigerian Breweries Plc. for organizing Gulder Ultimate Search. He said: “I feel very excited driving home this tear-rubber 2014 Ford Explorer. This proves I am the man of the year!”
Samantha who had never owned a vehicle prior to Gulder Ultimate Search 11 confessed that she could not wait to show off her new car in Bayelsa State. The GUS 11 Last Woman Standing remarked: “There are different routes to becoming a queen. I thank Nigerian Breweries for organizing Gulder Ultimate Search 11 which made me become the queen of the jungle. Bayelsa State is waiting to receive her me. This is actually my first car and I feel very good, I promised to get my mother a car before the year runs out and to God be the glory I have gotten this car. This is far beyond my expectations.”
Otto Canon was full of smiles as he received the keys to his cars. He described the occasion as a dream come true as he prayed to have his own car by the age of 25. Incidentally, Otto turned 25 this year. Otto said: It had been my heart’s desire to have a brand new car either before I attain the age of 25; or when I turn 25. And right now I am 25 and I have won this car. I am short of words. I say a big thank you to those who voted to make this possible.”
Also on hand to celebrate with the Gulder Ultimate Search winning trio were Christopher Okagbue and Dennis Okike, winners of Gulder Ultimate Search seasons eight and ten respectively.
Sharon Robinson and Eriata Blessing, both female contestants on this year’s edition, showed up to cheer Samantha Appi, Last Woman Standing, when she received her car. Sharon said: “We are happy for our friend. Although I did not make it to the final, I am proud to be to be a Gulder brand ambassador.”
