On the night Moshood Saheed Abiola decided to end a three-year self-imposed hiatus from consuming Legend Extra Stout, the39-year old native of Oyo State carted home a brand new 32-inch LED flat screen Television courtesy of the Legend Taste And Tell Activation.
Abiola was one of the three winners at the Ibadan leg of the Legend Taste and Tell Activation, an in-bar blind taste contest, recently held in the Gentleman’s Quarters, Bodija, Ibadan, capital of Oyo State. According to Abiola, he was a regular consumer of Legend Extra Stout until three years ago when he decided to quit alcohol. His reunion with Legend would prove to be a memorable experience.
He said: “I am so happy that I won this beautiful Television. Legend is actually my preferred brand but I stayed away from alcohol for three years. I just decided to take Legend today because of my friends I am hanging out with. When I was selected for the Taste and Tell Contest, I tasted the first stout and I knew immediately that it was Legend. I just went through the motion of tasting the others but I stuck by my choice. Now my relationship with Legend will become stronger because of this fantastic gift”.
Abiola was not the only winner on the night. Solution Oguniyi and Adekunle Adeyinka, two participants at the Legend Taste and Tell Contest also went home with a refrigerator and a generator respectively. Speaking on how they were able to correctly identify Legend from the other stout brands, both agreed that the rich foam head and the unique bitter taste were unmistakable features of Legend.
“There is something different about Legend. It is definitely the smoothness and the unique bitterness. No other stout has those qualities so it was quite easy for me to pick out Legend from the lot,” Ogunbiyi, winner of the refrigerator said. Also speaking was Adeyinka, winner of the brand new generator who commended Legend for rewarding their loyalty. “What else can I ask for Legend? I have been a loyal consumer for years and today Legend has rewarded me for my loyalty. I say a big thank you to Legend Extra Stout,” Adeyinka stated.
The event which featured rib cracking comedy from popular comedians De-don and Bash also had a special performance from Alapomeji crooner, 9ice. There was also live music from fast rising live band, Wale Zion, and a thrilling performance from Ijo Ishaga, a cultural troupe.
Funsho Ayeni, Senior Brand Manager, Stout and Life – Nigerian Breweries PLC, who spoke on the event night’s proceedings, stated that the Legend Taste And Tell Activation was organized to reward loyal consumers.
He said: “Legend has come to redefine the stout market. The brand has remained the fastest growing stout in the market. In fact, Legend is growing and gaining share in a category that is declining. We owe this to the loyalty and support of the consumers so we decided to say a big thank you to them through this activation.
After Ibadan, the Legend Taste & Tell train will touch several other cities across Nigeria. Winner of the much coveted Monde Gold Award of Quality, Legend Extra Stout has continued to position itself as the brand of choice among stout lovers in the country.
