3 Cars Won, 12 More Up For Grabs on Gulder’s National Consumer Promo

Nigeria’s biggest National Consumer Promotion, the Gulder Ultimate Promo has produced two more brand new car winners as well as hundreds of consolation prize winners. The two brand new car owners are 23 year old Chinedu Odimgbe and 31 year old Francis Njoku.

While Chinedu, an undergraduate awaiting his NYSC call up beat hundreds of other contestants to win the Enugu leg of the Ultimate Chase contest on Saturday, September 26; Francis emerged via the first raffle draw held on Sunday, September 27, 2015.

While Chinedu had to race alongside other contestants from Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium to the Michael Okpara Square, Enugu, for the opportunity of searching for the keys to a brand new Hyundai Elantra car, Francis Njoku sent the alphanumeric code he found under his Gulder crown cork via SMS to 20388 and was lucky to have his entry picked as the winner of the same car model at the Enugu raffle draws held at the New Berries Bar, inside Enugu Museum.

Chinedu said he started training when he heard that Gulder was organising a National Consumer Promotion which had Ultimate Chase and Raffle Draw categories. He said: “When I saw the advert about the Ultimate Chase which had the information about the venue and the date, I started training hard because I was determined to make a success out of this consumer promotion. I was jogging every morning and doing other forms of exercises like “sitting in the air”, planking and others, just to stay fit.”

Even though Gulder communicated that prospective participants should arrive at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium venue of the Enugu leg of the Ultimate Chase by 7am, people had started arriving as early as 6 am. Chinedu confessed that when he saw the crowd that had built up, he became nervous, wondering if he could make any meaningful headway.

He however stated that he regained confidence when the race commenced. He said: “When we started the race, I saw people dropping out, but I was determined never to give up. As people slowed down, I started pacing up and I then I was among the top 40. Then when we got to Okpara Square, I was the fifth person. Then I searched for the clue according to the instructions of Michael Nwachukwu. After I solved the riddle I approached the Gatekeeper. Then I saw about two or three guys running ahead of me to the Gatekeeper. I followed them. After the Gatekeeper saw our riddles, he told me to take a map. I took the map. Meanwhile, two guys were ahead of me and they had already started searching. But I had to relax and I studied the map carefully. I saw where a box was that was marked near a tree, and I knew immediately that the box would be located near a tree. I had to locate the tree and knew immediately that the key to the brand new car would be there. Luckily, I got to the tree first, I saw a box there, I opened it and I saw the key.”

However, 200 of the Gulder Ultimate Chase participants did not go home empty handed as the brand ensured that they went him with consolation prizes.

To participate in the Ultimate Chase, contestants need only gather six crown corks of Gulder marked Ultimate Chase and go to any of the chase venues for accreditation and screening, after which they can partake in the competition.

The dates and venues for the remaining Chase events are: Liberation Stadium, Port Harcourt on October 3, Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan, on October 10; Ogbe Stadium Benin, October 17; National Stadium, Lagos, October 24; Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, November 7; U.J Esuene Stadium, Calabar, November 14 and Godwin Achebe Mini Stadium, Onitsha, November 21.

Francis Njoku, winner of the brand new Hyundai Elantra car, was evidently surprised when a phone call was put through to him by Emmanuel Agu, Marketing Manager, Gulder, 33, More, Life, and Stout Category and Onyeka Okoli, Senior Brand Manager, Gulder; both of Nigerian Breweries Plc; informing him of the ownership of a brand new Hyundai Elantra, courtesy the Gulder National Consumer Promotion.

The dates and locations of other Gulder raffle draw events are: Port Harcourt, October 4; Benin City, October 18, Lagos, October 25, Owerri, November 8 and Onitsha, November 22.

With the winnings of Chinedu and Francis, the number of cars given out by Gulder comes to three; with Chuka Nnabuife winning the first car at the media launch of the Gulder National Consumer Promotion held on August 24 in Enugu.

However, there are 12 more brand new Hyundai Elantra cars to be won.

There are three ways through which consumers can win in the 2015 edition of the Gulder National Consumer Promotion.

First is the instant prize crown corks. As the name connotes, the prizes can be claimed instantly and the gift items in this category are 3.5 million bottles of beer and 500,000 units of N200 airtime, redeemable from any of the major networks. Consumers who find this crown cork would have to text the alpha numeric codes to the short code 20388 to get an instant electronic recharge from any of the four major GSM telecommunications service providers; Glo, Airtel, Etisalat and MTN. The free drinks are redeemable at redemption centres.

The second crown cork is the differentiated crown cork category and which have alpha numeric codes inscribed underneath them. Holders of this crown cork have to send the codes to 20388 to be part of a national raffle draw that would be held forth nightly. While grand prize winners will drive home brand new Hyundai Elantra vehicles, second and third prize winners will win N200,000 and N100,000 respectively.

Other consolation prizes include generators, N50,000 shopping vouchers, refrigerators, 32 inch LED television sets, home theatre, rechargeable standing fans and electric shavers.

Holders of the third class of crown corks – the experiential crown corks- marked Ultimate Chase, will have to report at designated national chase venues with six of those crown corks to participate for an opportunity to win a brand new car. Asides the prizes to be won, the Ultimate Chase gives consumers the opportunity to imbibe the brand’s core values. Other consolation prizes include MP3 players, mini music bluetooth speakers, dual sim phones, electric shavers, Gulder cufflinks, spray irons, cooking plates, rechargeable standing fans, Galaxy Tabs, smart phones, 32 inch television sets, a year’s supply of Gulder, generators, refrigerators  and home theatres.
