Tips to a Safe and Stress-free travel during the Christmas Season

With the hustle and bustle in the exhausting urban lifestyle, travelling has proven to be an effective stress-relief exercise. This is because by discovering different destinations, and temporarily changing one’s environment to spend quality time with one’s loved ones, one is as well stimulating his, or her, mind, and body.

Considering the lingering fuel scarcity, bad road conditions, and insecurity, embarking on a travel journey, especially as a Nigerian that lives in the country, can be a herculean task. Hence, it is advisable that one’s decision to travel during this time is accompanied with a plan.

Below are some tips to help you have a smooth journey;

  1. Avoid the peak dates: The holiday period is usually a busy one but there are days when traffic peaks for travelers. Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve and Boxing Day are days when it might not be a good idea to be on your way to your destination, as there will be last-minute rush by most travelers. Schedule an early travel date.
  2. Know your destination: Before embarking on that journey, it is important you research, for your safety and experience purposes. By researching your destination, you will be able to make the most of your trip and make it as stress-free as possible. Before making your decision, make sure you know the weather conditions, public transportation, the local language, and food options of where you are heading to.
  3. Don’t travel at night: Travelling when it’s late could be dangerous, as some unscrupulous people may be up and about. Always try to ensure your departure time is early enough and takes into consideration possible traffic situations or airport delays so you are not caught outside at night.
  4. Share your location: Sharing your location with a trusted friend or family member can provide an extra level of safety and security. If you are meeting up with someone while traveling, they can use your location to find you more easily, if you are traveling in a group, sharing your location can help everyone stay on track and stay in touch.

 Have a safe trip and enjoy the Christmas season!
