Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, has welcomed Goldberg’s sponsorship of the 2014 edition of the annual Ojude Oba Festival. Goldberg lager is the Official Beer brand of the highly celebrated festival.
The Awujale speaking through Chief Fassy Yusuf, the Festival Coordinator, during the World Press Conference held at the Palace of the Awujale to announce activities of the 2014 edition of the over two century old festival, Oba Adetona, specially welcomed Goldberg’s gesture to be part of the culture and tradition of Ijebuland; while also expressing hope that the Goldberg/ Ojude Oba partnership would be mutually beneficial.
He said they welcome aboard, Goldberg Lager, a beer brand, from Nigerian Breweries Plc., which is making its first appearance at the festival this year as the Official beer brand. According to him, the festival organisers have been authoritatively informed that Goldberg will be putting together a Goldberg Beer Village in Ijebu-Ode for the period of the festival to give both Ijebus and visitors a memorable experience through entertainment. “We are hoping that our partnership will be both enduring and mutually beneficial”. He said.
Mfon Bassey, Brand Manager – Goldberg, thanked the Paramount Ruler, his cabinet and the people of Ijebu Ode for giving the beer brand the opportunity of being a part of the 2014 edition of the festival. He remarked that Goldberg would continue to stand by its promise to support and celebrate the traditional values of its consumers.
Bassey also spoke on Goldberg’s 12-day Beer Village; which he said was set up to ensure that the people of Ijebu and other tourists have a memorable festival experience. He added that Goldberg had lined up a couple of other activities to leverage the brand during the festival’s duration.
According to the Brand Manager, the Beer Village which will open on Monday, September 29 will also feature music and comic performances while selected consumers will have the opportunity of carting home various prizes as there would be raffle draws.
He disclosed that Goldberg will be sold at the recommended retail price while maximum security will be in place to ensure visitors to the beer village are secured.
The grand finale of the 2014 Ojude Oba Festival themed ‘Our People, Our Heritage’ will hold on Monday, October 6, 2014.
