Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited (EEPNL), a Nigerian affiliate of ExxonMobil, in conjunction with Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), has awarded international Post-Graduate scholarship to 12 outstanding students.

The annual international scholarship programme is designed to provide full scholarship for successful applicants to study for their Masters degrees in different universities abroad.  Thousands of eligible graduates participated but just 12 of them scaled the rigorous selection process which included an aptitude test and interview.

Speaking during the official presentation of the scholarship awards, Udom Inoyo, Executive Director, Mobil Producing Nigeria, said the gesture was a demonstration of the company’s meaningful contribution to the development of the nation and her citizens, particularly the youth.

‘This event is indicative of our commitment to corporate citizenship in its recognition of the potentials of the youth. Corporate citizenship is something that will always be very important to us here at ExxonMobil. It is integral to the continuous growth and success of our business and defines who we are.

“By offering these international postgraduate awards to qualified students, we give them the opportunity to further their educational goals in an environment free of some of the challenges we are presently facing here,” Inoyo added.

Also speaking,  Oladotun Isiaka, General Manger, Deepwater Operations, EEPNL, counselled the beneficiaries to be good ambassadors of Nigeria in the respective countries  where they would  be undertaking their studies, urging them to maintain focus and discipline.

In his remarks, Mr Tunde Adams, representative of SNEPCo, admonished the scholars to be innovative and  dedicated to their studies He said: “As you go abroad to study technical disciplines, I urge you to have a mind of inquiry, think of how you can help solve some of the world’s energy needs.”
