Star lager, Nigeria’s highest selling beer brand, continues to put smiles on the faces of its consumers via the Star Win A Trip To Brazil consumer promotion. A galaxy of the beer’s patrons, ranging from students to businessmen, recently reaped from the brand’s unique consumer reward scheme, with scores of them winning prizes such as 32 inch LED TV sets, power generators, home theatres, industrial fans and the likes.
However, the ‘Star’ attractions of the weekend were Segun Akpata, a widower, and Zakky Ide Onyebuchi, a student of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, currently undergoing Industrial Attachment. They both emerged winners of two of the 11 tickets, which will see Star lager beer taking the lucky consumers on an all-expense paid trip to Brazil.
While Segun emerged from the Alakija, Lagos location, Zakky’s ticket was Owerri’s grand prize winning ticket.
Segun Akpata’s road to victory was however not smooth. As a dealer of alcoholic drink products, he got wind of the information that the Star Win A Trip To Brazil promo draws would hold at Saphire Crystal Restaurant, Alakija. So, he waded through what he described as the ‘heavy Lagos traffic’ just to see if he’s dream of going to Brazil on the bill of Star would become a reality. And it did, as Segun was twice lucky. He won an industrial fan in the course of the promo and was also the night’s main winner.
However, Zakky’s case was slightly different. He endured as 30 individuals were called in succession, to pick up various gift items which their raffle tickets won for them. Yet the night belonged to the 24-year old student, who incidentally learnt of the promo through Star lager’s FaceBook page.
Speaking after emerging the winner, he said: “I saw it (Star Win a Trip To Brazil) on the internet. I ‘like’ the Star page, so I usually receive updates. When I learnt of the promo and saw today’s venue, I told myself that it is a ‘must’ for me to I attend and I shouldn’t allow the opportunity slip by me. That was why I came.” When asked how he felt after winning the prize, he quipped: “I feel so great and I’m happy. I really thank Star for what it has done for me.”
Really, Zakky does have a lot to be thankful for, as he has never stepped outside the shores of Nigeria. On whether he thought he could win, he said: “I had the faith that I could win. I thought of it, but I did not imagine my victory would come this way.”
Another grand winner was Chidiebere Nwigwe, who emerged as the grand prize winner at the Onitsha leg of the promo. Agaku Kelvin Terkaa was the Star prize winner at the Makurdi venue of the Star promo.
The Star Win A Trip To Brazil promo train will subsequently move to Port Harcourt, Awka and Lagos. The next promo draws will hold at the Century Valley Bar and Events Centre in Port Harcourt, while Lagosians will have a feel of the promo at the Aso Rock International Bar, Ikotun. The Awka draw venue is Bamboo Garden.
To be part of the draws, consumers have to exchange two crown corks of Star beer for a raffle ticket, which gives them a chance to win fantastic prizes.
